Welcome to visit Lifedream! Dogs are my family and way of life. My whole childhood I begged my father for a dog, but I only got my first (a male smooth collie) when I moved out of my childhood home, in the spring of 2000. I was 18 years old. I actively planned to get a dog for three years, considering different breeds and ticking off days on a piece of paper. Nowadays I enjoy living with dogs. I compete in agility, herding, hoopers, shows and rally-training with my dogs, but we also actively train in people searching and forest tracking. During the summers we go hiking and camping.

I have over 20 years of experience with smooth-coated collies and actively bred the breed in 2004-2014. In 2011-2017 I also had Siberian huskies. After owning working dogs, I wanted a collie to give me a little more kick, so I got my first border collie after almost three years of careful consideration. However, in the future, my hope is to be able to breed active smooth and rough collies that are suitable for many hobbies, because at their best, a collie is a very versatile hobby and companion dog.

ETHOLOGY & DOG EVOLUTION
To me, life with company of dogs has always been a interesting opportunity to follow another specie closely. My passion in life is ethology, study of animal behaviour. I have been educating myself by studying dog behaviour, evolution and ethology and you can find plenty of my writings here. Sadly, they are all in finnish, but if you know how to use google translator I hope you enjoy them. Over the years, I have attended several lectures on the subject.

BREEDING – since 2004
As a breeder, it is really important for me to aim comprehensive breeding maintaining mental and physical properties typical for the breed. I am aiming for small scale collie breeding for healthy and functional collie. Nowadays, most of my breeding work is based on smooth and rough crossbreedings because of the alarming genetic situation in the breed. By using a high-quality rough collie in my breeding, I have gained an enthusiastic, workwilling dogs, who, by most part, lack negative reactivity. Smooth-rough crossbreeds also do well in the show ring, so there is really no obstacle to their use. I feel that by choosing this path, I am going back to the roots of the breeds instead of creating a lot of new ones.

Rough or smooth, one of the most important values of mine is that I would like to know first hand the dogs used in my breeding program and their background. Things I am most interested are how the dog is adopting new things, its activity and concentration level, ability and willingness to work for the owner, way to play and several everyday life problems like sensitivity to noises or allergies. I also want my bitches to be able to give birth in a familiar place where they feel like home. For this reason I try to keep the number of dogs placed with breeding terms moderate and I do not frequently have litters, usually once a year and sometimes less.
HISTORY: My first litter was born in 2004. For the next 10 years I was an active breeder and the litters were born highly hoped. One can still find few of my dogs (mainly males) in pedigrees like Hugo (Lifedream Missionary Man), who has one litter in Timonan kennel, Ramses (FI CH Fatikon Nappanahka) who has several litters here in Finland and Sweden and Dutch import Bilbo (Bilbo van shakas Royal Kraal) whos name can be found all over european dogs since his puppies were exported to France, Sweden and even Israel. My puppies grew up in our kitchen, in the middle of everyday animal life and got used to other dogs, cats and goats from a young age. Finding new homes and the genuine joy of people with the puppies was one of my biggest motivations in my breeding. I organized quite a few meetings and trainings for the Lifedream team.

Among my successful offspring I could mention ”Peppi” (Lifedream Day Dawns Red), a smooth-haired collie who competed in agility and was the first smooth collie in Finland to compete in dog dancing, ”Eedla” (FI VCH FI CH RTK1 TK1 TK2 Lifedream Silence of The Lambs), who competed in the dog shows and became a double champion in the veteran class, and ”Hupi” (RTK1 RTK2 Lifedream Off To The Races), who competes in the third class in agility and in the winner class in the rally dog show. World winner ”Hukka” (CIB FI CH LV CH HU CH IT CH PMV-13 LVV-14 MV-15 Lifedream Unfitting To Please, tricolour male pictured above), the aforementioned Eedla’s brother sable male ”Peto” (CIB FI CH DK CH EE CH BALTV-14 ZGBW-16 BEV-17 BDSG-19 Lifedream Shepherd`s Pie, pictured above) and youngsters ”Niilo” (FI JCH Lifedream Just´s Fools Hope) and ”Irma” (FI JCH HeCJW-25 Lifedream Busy To Hope) have achieved fame in dog shows.

Piiku came from a promising crossbreed litter after a break of almost five years in dog hobby. Piiku is the pack’s ADHD performer. She is always ready for action and we have done all kinds of things with her. I compete with her in agility in the second class, hoopers at first class, rally-training in the winner class and in obedience we also have the right to compete in the open class. We also train herding hoping to compete some day. Just for fun we also training people searching and tracking. Piiku loves to work for and with me and is very easygoing also in home too. Her attitude is pure gold. She is also a very lively dog. In the pack she is a little too kind. Despite several attempts, mating Piiku has not been successful and she has no offspring. Lotta is from a crossbreed that I couldn’t pass up. Her great-grandfather is my old male Bilbo. Lotta is the circus clown of the family, loves people and running. Lotta always has a joke in mind. Lotta competes in agility in the second class and rally-obedience in the open class. She also trains herding with an intention to compete some day. I also train people searching and tracking with her for my own pleasure. Lotta is a kind and busy goofy guy in the pack, who has a strong desire to care for, for example, the kittens in the house. She also loves people and children. Lotta is the mother of the Lifedream GOT litter. Lotta also has one litter at Twilight Moon kennel. Photo by Suvi Lehto

Pimu walked in to my lap at the age of 4 weeks and that’s when the idea started. Having her was not planned at all. She is also full smooth and from lines that I had been trying to avoid. Not because there is something wrong, but because they are so common. Pimu is a confident, energetic and fast dog with a lot of weight to say. A real must-have dog that you can’t say no to. At the moment, she competes in agility in the first class and rally in the winner class. We also enjoy herding, searching and tracking with her whenever we can. In the pack, Pimu is kind, but she is a bit resourceful with beds and especially food. However, this has not caused any problems in our everyday life and Pimu gets along great with other dogs. Pimu is the mother of Lifedream Hope-litter and she is co-owned with her breeder Päivi from Diamondfox collies so she has had a litter there too. Photo by Suvi Lehto

Can I name puppy Lunttu (a slut)? Apparently can 🙂 Lunttu, Lumppu, Lunttu-maaria or sometimes Lunttusaurus (because of her size) stayed home from my first litter after the break in my breeding. Her mother is Pimu, who lives at home, and her father is the versatile hobby dog Kelmi. Lunttu was the first puppy to climb out of the puppy pen and was the most energetic and physical puppy of her litter. As soon as the puppies started to move around, it was pretty clear that this particular puppy would stay home. As a future agility dog, her ability to balance and control her body warms my heart altough she is quite big girl. Lunttu seems very promising for our other hobbies too. She began competing rally-obedience in first class at age of 12 months and passed national herding instinct test at the age of just 10 months. Photo by Heli Jalava

Born: 31.1.2025 Pedigree
Mimmi stayed home from Lotta’s litter. She is the only female in her litter, but in my eyes she is very beautiful and has a nice temperament. A little more moderate than her brothers, but very greedy and loves to sleep in my arms. Mimmi was born as the last one of her litter, so she has been special from the beginning. It didn’t take long before she wrapped me around her little paw. It seems Mimmi will be suitable for our sports agility, rally-training and herding. What comes to shows, she seems very promising too, so I hope I will get a new ring fox out of her! Mimmi is a crossbreed already in the second generation. Mimmi has lots of energy and so far agility and herding seems to be her favorite thing. In our pack she is lively and painfull, but she is a bit resourceful about my lap since she loves to sleep near me. Photo by Linda Toivonen

My first BC!! Likka is sensitive, but at the same time an enthusiastic friend for all. I compete with her on the jumping tracks in agility in the first class and in rally-obedience we have the right to compete in the winner class. We also have began to compete in hoopers competitions and she competes in first class at the moment. I occasionally do people searching and tracking with her for my own pleasure. Unfortunately, she has osteoarthritis in her hips and although she does not yet show any pain, this has largely defined our goals and what kind of sport we will practice. Likka is an easy dog to be a BC in everyday life, although she is somewhat sensitive to sounds. In hobbies she is passionate. In the forest she runs after smells, but fortunately she always comes back when shouted at. In the pack Likka is always up to date and is a loyal playmate.

s.3.8.2024 Irma remained in joint ownership with Pimu’s breeder Päivi Iivonen (kennel Diamondfox). She stayed here with us for a while before moving to Päivi’s home. She will still spend time with us from time to time. I am very happy that an active home was found for her and that she seems promising and suitable for Päivi’s dogshow hobby in terms of appearance. Irma was one of the bravest of the puppies and also physically well developed. Fortunately, I did not have to give her up completely, as the decision to keep the puppy at home was difficult. Irma will definitely be seen in the ring and we are looking forward to seeing how she develops! Thank you Päivi for offering Irma a wonderful home! Photo by Johanna Häikiö

b.3.8.2024 Kippo is a beautiful sable merle bitch, who was born in my first litter after a break from dog hobby. Her father is a versatile hobby dog Kelmi and her mother is Pimu, who lives at home. Right after she was born, she caught my eye and resembles her mother very much. It took me a few weeks to admire her, but in the end I ended up keeping the tricolour bitch at home. The decision was not easy! Kippo got a wonderful and active home in Turku. She is full sister of Lunttu and Irma and yes, she is sable-merle!
